Elias Khoury was a Lebanese novelist and advocate of the Palestinian cause. He died in Beyrouth in September.
The photograph of Elias Khoury was taken in his office at the newspaper Al-Nahar in Beyrouth, for which he was editor-in-chief of its cultural supplement Al-Mulhaq (july 2002). He was one of the first lebanese writer I met.
Khoury's novels are remarkable for their complex approach to both political themes and more fundamental questions about human behaviour. They often involve an inner monologue.
His novels and literary criticism have been translated into several languages.
